Our California family has had a similar tradition from before I was three to now. We don’t live near enough to participate now, but our daughters did get to see Santa appear “down the chimney” (from the two-sided fireplace) at my sister’s one year. Even some guest college students there for the first time couldn’t believe Santa didn’t actually come down the chimney. Traditions are a big part of celebrations, and this is one I love.
